When you are designing a new part or mold, you will normally create two different views that show the part’s top and bottom faces. In this tutorial, you will learn how to apply different annotations to each view.

Annotating parts in SOLIDWORKS
Before you annotate parts, make sure you have a reference drawing open.
The red circle on the front and back faces of the part indicates the part is mirrored. The red circles around the edges of the faces indicate that the part is completely mirrored. The face edges of the part do not have red circle annotations, so the faces are regular.

When the part is mirrored, you see the part’s top and bottom faces. If you select a single face (such as the back face of the part) and zoom into the component to view the individual faces, you will see a white line or dotted line along the top and bottom of the selected face (as shown in the right screenshot). If the part is mirrored, you will see two white lines on each face, as shown in the left screenshot.
The top face of the part is annotated with the 2D annotation for the part face and its mirror. The bottom face is annotated with the 3D annotation.
If the part is rotated, the mirroring is not the same on all of the faces. For example, the back face of the part is only a mirror of the front face when the part is rotated 90 degrees, as shown in the screenshot above.
You can choose whether to mirror parts. Choose the Mirror Component or Mirror Entities command from the Home tab.
In the Part and Mirror dialog box, you can check the Mirror Faces check box to make the part face and each face of the part a mirror of the other.
If you choose to mirror the faces of the part, you will not be able to change the orientation of the part. You can choose to change
